Location: 1 Summerhall, Edinburgh EH9 1PL
Rate of Pay: £13.10 per hour + holiday pay
Contract Type: 14 week fixed term contract, 32.5 hours per week, with the possibility of extension depending on the success of the project.
What is the Job?
We are looking for a Boutique and Gallery supervisor to look after our Visual Arts gallery spaces and our new venture, Summerhall Arts Boutique, an initiative that offers artists, artisans and designers the opportunity to sell their work within our thriving arts centre.
This is a new role reporting to the Head of Visual Arts, the Boutique and Gallery supervisor will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day to day running of the Visual arts galleries, Boutique, providing excellent, informed and welcoming, customer service. This is a fast-paced, public-facing role that requires motivation, multitasking skills, and the ability to think on your feet.
Working hours will usually be from Wednesday – Sunday 10.30 am – 5.30 pm, with occasional evenings to facilitate visual arts and boutique events and Mondays and Tuesdays as opposed to weekends when necessary and in line with company needs.
What will you be doing?
- Preparing for the launch of the Boutique and Fringe visual arts programme.
- Sales and Customer Service.
- Gallery and store supervision housekeeping.
- Stock management.
- Social media.
- Artist / designer recruitment and communication.
- Sales report generation.
- Assisting the Head of Visual Arts with administration and departmental duties.
Who are you?
- Enthusiastic and Approachable – You enjoy helping clients and customers to get the most out of their experience
- Motivated and hardworking – You can work well under pressure and during very busy peaks of service
- Have a passion for the arts and an excitement for Summerhall Arts’ Visual Arts programme
- Excellent communicator
- Strong administration skills
- Strong timekeeping skills
- Team player but equally comfortable working independently
- Experience in a customer service role in an art gallery, concept store or boutique
Recruitment Information
